How does a HAHA Smart Vending machine work?
  1. Tap, insert or swipe your card to Pre-Authorise the card
    • A pre-authorisation amount will be charged until the purchase is completed and settled.
  2. Once pre-authorised, the door will unlock. Pull the door open to gain access to the products.
  3. You can now enjoy a natural shopping experience and take as many items as you like. The Product Recognition Sensors automatically detect what has been taken out. 
    • You are only charged for the items taken out after the door is closed
    • While the door is open, if you take an item and return it back in its place, you will not be charged for that item
  1. Upon closing the door, your purchased will be finalised. It may take up to two days for the amount to be settled with your bank.
  2. If you scan the QR code for a receipt, you will receive a receipt for the items purchased via email.

We offer 4 types of models: Max 620, Max 620S, Freezer 550, Pro 542. They all work the same way but have different features and capacities.

No, every HAHA Smart Vending machine is a single-door unit. Our units are designed to be modular and work together seamlessly to create a single store with multiple cabinets.

HAHA Smart Vending machines can sell almost anything that fits inside the cabinet. Common categories include:

How much is shipping?

Shipping rates depend on your location, but typically range from $400 to $800 for freight. To get a quote, please contact sales@hahavending.co.nz.

We have 2 delivery/installation methods:

  • Curbside Delivery: A third-party delivery company will deliver your unit to the curb of your location. You would be responsible for removing the unit from the pallet, unboxing it, and setting up the shelves and pushers in its final location. You can book an installation date and time with our team, ensuring you have someone on standby to support your installation. You would be required to submit your product list and planogram in advance of your delivery.
  • Inside Delivery: After you submit your product list and planogram, our warehouse team will pre-assemble your cabinet for you based on your planogram, and they will install the shelves and pushers ahead of time. You will receive a pre-shipment call with our delivery team to ensure everything is ready for your delivery. You will also receive an email with tracking, an SMS when the truck is picking up your unit, and another SMS when they are 30 minutes away, giving you adequate time to prepare. Inside Delivery is what 95% of operators choose, and is an additional cost.
What is the pre-authorization amount? Can it be changed?

Yes, as the operator, you can determine the pre-authorization amount. We typically recommend $10, which is the current default.

Customers are required to enter their phone number the first time they interact with the cabinet. A receipt will be sent to their mobile device via SMS within a few hours.

We will make multiple attempts to charge the card, which would either put the customer into overdraft or above their credit limit.

If HAHA Vending is unable to capture a payment from a card due to a technical issue or our object recognition sensors are unable to accurately detect items, we will cover the transaction costs. Covered costs will be displayed in your weekly payout.

What are product pushers?

Product pushers are spring-loaded accessories placed on each shelf to push all the products to the front of the AI vending machine (“facing”). A well-organized storefront helps your business look professional, stocked, tidy, and attractive, enabling a smooth and intuitive shopping experience.

No, we are not currently offering retrofit kits.

No, our units do not accept cash.

We accept valid credit and debit cards from Visa, American Express, Mastercard, and Discover, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay (not Apple Cash).

Can ads be displayed on the screens?

Photos and videos showcasing your products in your cabinet(s), along with text, icons, and logos, are permitted, provided they do not infringe on any copyright laws.

Yes! You can print a large-format magnet that sticks to the side of your unit. You can design it with your logo, a graphic, or print a wood grain to elevate the look of your cabinet.

The screen dimensions are 1920 pixels wide by 540 pixels tall, and this only applies to the 620S model.

You can upload either an .MP4 or .MOV file. All video files will automatically loop.

What security measures do you have in place to deter theft?

HAHA vending machines require an internet connection so the system can process payments, communicate with the management platform, and transmit transaction data.

In most installations the machine connects through mobile (cellular) data, which allows the AI vending machine to operate without needing a dedicated on-site network. Wi-Fi can also be used where available.

Because the system relies on an active connection to process transactions and send data, reliable mobile coverage at the installation location is important. During the discussion it was noted that machines placed in areas with poor signal, such as basements or bunkers, may experience connectivity issues.

Before installing a machine, it’s recommended to confirm that the location has sufficient cellular signal or Wi-Fi coverage so the AI vending machine can communicate with the platform and process payments correctly.

Our sensors have a 99.5% accuracy rate. The mandatory product pushers make it easier for the vision system to detect what gets taken out. If suspicious transactions are detected, they are forwarded to a human for further review to ensure that your customers are billed accurately.

The system has two cameras, and it is challenging to block all of them simultaneously. Our vision sensors are ultra-wide, and in many cases, we are still able to detect what gets taken out.

The door has a spring, so it will close automatically if someone releases the handle. It will also lock on its own.

Operators can access the video footage. They can review footage from both cameras to help identify sales or other incidents.

If internet connectivity is lost, the AI Vending Machine will unfortunately stop working.

The AI vending machine contains a backup battery system that keeps the temperature logs even during a power outage.

During a power outage, the AI vending machine will warm up to room temperature. This process typically takes several hours. The lock will be engaged, and customers will be unable to unlock the AI vending machine. An external power supply can be added to temporarily alleviate this issue.

Do you offer training for operators?

Yes! Every new HAHA Vending operator receives training from us before they receive their machine. We also offer ongoing coaching to ensure your business’s success.

You will be notified automatically if your machine stops working, and you can check the latest status of your store on your phone or computer at any time. Our team will be in contact with you to resolve any issues. If a technician is required, we will dispatch one to your location.

We can deliver replacement parts to you. We’ll work with you and our suppliers to ensure that you receive a replacement part as soon as possible and assist you in installing it or arrange for a technician to do so.

HAHA Smart Vending machines are very low-maintenance. Unlike traditional vending machines, HAHA Vending units have fewer moving parts, which reduces the likelihood of breakdowns and associated repair costs. Our AI vending machine manufacturer recommends cleaning the AI vending machine compressor every 6 months, which you can do yourself by simply using a vacuum or a duster to clear dust and debris from the condenser coils around the compressor. We also recommend cleaning the handle and the window on your HAHA Smart Vending machines to keep it hygienic and attractive.
